PLock

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

PLock is built so that what you do in it stays on your iPhone. This policy explains exactly what the app touches and where it goes.

The short version

Data stored on your device

PLock saves your streak start date, daily check-ins, journal entries and their triggers, onboarding answers, your blocker settings and a SHA-256 hash of your Strict Mode PIN (never the PIN itself) in the app's local storage and in an App Group shared with PLock's Screen Time shield. This data is removed when you delete the app.

Screen Time (Family Controls)

The blocker uses Apple's Screen Time API. The apps and websites you choose are represented by opaque tokens that Apple does not reveal to PLock, and PLock cannot see which apps you use or which sites you visit. Usage data is never shared, sold, or used for advertising.

Camera

The Panic Button can show your front camera so you can look yourself in the eyes. The image is displayed live only. Nothing is recorded, saved or uploaded.

Optional DNS filtering

If you turn on DNS filtering, your iPhone sends its DNS lookups (the names of the sites and services it connects to) to the encrypted DNS provider you pick: CleanBrowsing, AdGuard DNS, or a custom DNS-over-HTTPS address you enter. That provider's own privacy policy applies to those lookups. PLock itself never sees them. You can turn the filter off at any time in PLock or in iOS Settings.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. PLock receives only a signed confirmation of whether your subscription is active. It never receives your name, Apple ID or payment details.

Children

PLock is rated 18+ and is not directed at children.
